I really liked the cinematography/art style and overall atmosphere of this one. I was a little iffy about Nic Cage at first, but I get the feeling that was intentional. Playing a a character slowly descending into madness is right in Cage’s wheelhouse. Watching this is like being on an absolutely insane acid trip that follows a battle axe-wielding Nicolas Cage into hell. Mandy suffers slightly from it’s slow pace, but it is definitely worth watching if you have the patience/stomach for it. (P.S. pass me some of that evil hell wasp venom)
Nada é levado a sério. Mas eu tenho uma solução! É só fazer filmes com bons roteiros, como foi “O Senhor das Armas”. Quando o filme não tem cenas ruins, não vira piada!
Important update: I've seen Mandy, and all other movies are canceled this year. It had officially dethroned Hereditary as my movie of the year, and all other movies as my movies of the year from those years as well. Nic Cage's Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas is being taken away from him and retroactively being given to him for this movie. This movie sent my brain directly to hell. Here's the thing, too: yes, it's Nic Cage giving another Nic Cage performance. Yes, he drinks a bottle of vodka while in his underwear covered in blood and then starts screaming, yes, there is a character named "Fuckpig," and yeah...Cheddar Goblin. Nic Cage acts his ass off though, in a non-ironic, emotionally devastating way. This movie is about all of the things you think it is from the trailer and also so much more. It's about how insane life gets when the only thing you love gets taken away. Watch it, let it destroy you. #mandy#niccage#movies#youtoremyshirt#sleepynerdspod#podcast
Feeling this mood today with a summer sinus infection. Ugh.
This set up was on City of Angels when Cage falls to earth to become a mortal, something Cage has yet to be in real life. Lol. Shot in LA almost 20 years ago.
#sometimes I gotta work from open to close. alone. #everyonesfired but like for rill...this pic would be so much better if it was a peach and then I could make a FACE OFF joke and maybe #niccage would see this and be like "girl, that #peach is DEF not a #plum and that is DOPE. I'm gonna rule your world by bringing you so much guac and helping you close cause that shits wack to do alone" and I'll say "is this a date?" and then he'll say "no it's a proposal" and we'll show each other our #tattoos and genitals and there will be no pre nup, cuz i trust that he wont steal my recipes duh. everyone is invited to my wedding that will never happen, featuring nic cage. #slavetothestove#nowhiring#newnailstomorrow
What in the?!? Why? Who? Dafuq is Nic Cage wearing?... in public no less.
Wishing I could grow hair under my chin better. #NicCage
Mandy is Nicolas Cage's craziest movie. It is a beautifully shot, absolutely insane, and VERY bloody.
The first hour is a bit slow but the second hour is a coke induced blood bath. You can tell this is the genre film Cage has been leading up to after things like Drive Angry and Mom & Dad. It's one of his best and most unforgettable roles to date. You'll see Cage wield a crossbow, forge his own battle axe, and use a chainsaw in ways that would leave Leatherface jealous.
I feel like this style of movie will turn a lot of people off, but like it or not, Mandy is a visually stunning masterpiece.
I love Nicolas Cage.
Check it out on VUDU or Amazon.
Everyone would do well to go watch @panoscosmatos’s MANDY. The heights it achieves as a cinematic experience are as remarkable as they are rare. Cage is incredible in it. Right up there with his performances in PORT OF CALL and VAMPIRE’S KISS. #mandythefilm#niccage
REVIEW: ( Mandy 2018 ) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⚫️ Finally got to watch this much anticipated film that admittedly, the closer I got to seeing it, the more worrisome I became, hoping it wouldn’t be a complete letdown. But for the most part, it delivered and was overall very entertaining. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚫️ Most are calling this a “Love it or Hate it” kind of film. That may be true but I believe there’s elements present here that can satisfy a lot of people. There’s no denying that “Mandy” is a revenge film, plain and simple. And in executing that factor it succeeds. The kills are fun, violent and bloody. Nic Cage is over the top but not goofy. This is certainly the most enjoyable performance I’ve seen him give in quite a bit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚫️ The films has its flaws though. The first half is rather slow with some scenes and shots that drag on for far too long. And since all the kills leading up to the finale were so satisfying, it was a shame and kind of a buzz kill that the last one was rather silly and underwhelming, even considering the film’s tone. But all in all it’s a solid revenge flick with a blood soaked, axe wielding Nicolas Cage that’s undeniably a visual treat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For most folks, Fall brings with it a lot of traditions. Apple picking, pumpkin carving, raking leaves and booing children in the park - but for me it means one thing; quitting my job.
A true autumn tradition that carries on in 2018
“I learned so much and met some amazing people.” - a quote I never said in the last 12 months
I did however, complete research on my latest writing project. A true expedition into the world of email excuses - here’s a couple samples. Keep an eye out for the full version dropping soon as well as the spin-off I’ve got in the works, “31 Mostly Alright Ways to Make-Out”
A collection of unbelievable satisfying moments that don’t necessarily add up to more than their sum but still delight.
It’s been a week and my feelings towards it have crystallized into cosmic cubes of sugar like warm rock candy. This movie is as brutal as it is beautiful but never strays into fetishizing the wrong things. There’s pathos and relatable damage here while also basking in unhinged glee and bloodlust.
The first half slow cooks you into a soothing empathetic dread that goes exactly where you expect it, but it’s poured over you like syrup. By then you’re either locked in for what’s coming or asleep, either way you’re going on a ride.
What ensues is beyond reason and compromise. This is a grinding heavy metal love song masquerading in ultra violence and visions of inner Hellscapes. At its most manic it’s chaos made consumable and its most somber moments linger like open wounds.
The movie is not without its flaws and problems. The final kill of all things slightly underwhelms but the overall experience is beyond satisfying. I haven’t had this much fun at the movies in years. 👍👍👍👍

“Did I ever tell ya that this here jacket represents a symbol of my individuality, and my belief in personal freedom?" #NicCage#fashionicon
No words. Well, two words: Fucking Killer! This movie is what I imagine an acid trip to be like which only strengthens my belief that if I were to ever use hallucinations my head would explode. Anyway, you should watch this and have this face for two hours: 😳. #niccage#mandy#trippy👽
Definitely recommend "Mandy" if you like psychedelic, graphic, violent, synth driven, atmospheric, metaphysical nightmare revenge love stories (ie Drive, David Lynch) Available now on Amazon (digi buy/rent) and in select theatres. #mandy#bestfilmsof2018#niccage

Directed by Panos Cosmatos
Plot: Red (Nicolas Cage) goes crazy and kills people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Review: Mandy is one of the most insane movies I've ever seen, and it may just be one of my favorites of the year. The film is both a look at grief and an insane, bloody revenge story. First of all, the film looks absolutely stunning, and the way they use neon lights and color is beautiful. The musical score by Jóhann Jóhannsson (may he Rest In Peace) was really amazing, and added so much to the film. Mandy is only Panos Cosmatos second film, and he does a fantastic job with his direction. Cosmatos made some of the year's best scenes from this film, especially that amazing chainsaw fight scene. But by far, the greatest part of the film is Nicolas Cage. He's actually fantastic in this film, and he gave probably one of the year's best performances. There are tons of great Nicolas Cage freak outs in this film, but unlike most of the films Nic Cage is in, the use of those Nicolas Cage freak outs here are actually used well and to the film's advantage. He goes absolutely insane in the second half of the film, and the audience in my theater literally cheered and applauded when Nic Cage made his first three kills. The film is divided into two halves, and film's plot doesn't really start until a bit after the halfway mark. That can often be a problem, but here it flows well enough that it pulled it off. The first half is a slow beautiful looking drama/thriller film, and the second half is a pure grind-house film where Nicolas Cage wants to kill the people that have broken him in the most bloody fashion. The film is extremely unconventional, which will definitely be a turnoff for some people, but anyone who really likes and appreciates these types of films will love this one. I'll give Mandy a (9/10).
