Happy Batman Day! 🦇 How lucky were we to get a trilogy of comic book movies directed by Christopher Nolan? In my opinion the greatest comic book movie trilogy of all time and one of the best film trilogies ever. I love Affleck as Batman but it sucks to see all the shit Bale’s Batman gets now days. Like come on Christian Bale was a perfect realistic Batman. Affleck is a perfect comic book version. We can love both versions. I was hopeful we would get a trilogy near this level again directed by Affleck when he was originally attached to star in and direct but I’m still hopeful with Matt Reeves after the masterful work he did on the last two Planet of the Apes films. Hopefully we get Affleck to still star in a trilogy but if not hopefully a suitable replacement is cast.
“See, what we call God depends upon our tribe, Clark Jo, 'cause God is tribal. God takes sides. No man in the sky intervened when I was a boy to deliver me from Daddy's fist and abominations. I figured out way back if God is all-powerful, He cannot be all good. And if He is all good, then He cannot be all-powerful. And neither can you be.”
Well I just couldn't wait to watch this. Felix Randau's Iceman is an absorbing and very much brave piece of filmmaking. To make a film with an extinct language with no subtitles certainly takes some rather large cohones! Does it work? It most certainly does. The physical actions and repeated words makes it reasonably easy to follow the simple plot. Kelab is the tribe leader and whilst hunting his family and tribe are inexplicably murdered by three unknowns who are after their sacred shrine - the Tineka. Kelab returns to find all but a new born baby dead and the Tineka gone. Kelab sets out after the killers across the Norwegian fjords to avenge his family and tribe and retrieve the holy artefact. This is basically a revenge flick but what makes it stand out is the lead performance from Jürgen Vogel who conveys his character's despair and vengeful sorrow perfectly with very little dialogue to play with. Along with his performance is the stunning rugged scenery which makes the film a visual treat. There are some notable highlights of the filming of the scenery. The chase up the snowcapped peak using what appears to be a drone is especially mesmerising as is the glacial cave scene. There could have been a few more imaginative angles throughout the film but the Mölltaler Gletscher glacier certainly makes up for any misgivings the director or cinematographer chose. Accompanying the visuals is the perfectly attuned film score by Solēr that marries up with the imagery flawlessly. Iceman might not be for everyone due to no understandable dialogue or subtitles but I loved it, 8/10.
How does this Comedy / Heist look & sound on the 4K format? Not bad🍿🍿

👇Picture & Audio Review👇
Picture 4: A great detail bump throughout, picture could have been sharper in times but overall this looks really good. HDR is the star in this movie, giving it a vibrant boost from start to the end. Standout are the Cars. The colors of the mustangs really pops of the screen. HDR also creates a great separation between foreground and background. A solid 4K HDR transfer.
Audio 3.5: Unfortunately we only get a 5.1 DTS HD audio mix. On the upside it sounds pretty good. Great immersion when the soundtracks kicks inn. There isn’t that many punchy bass moments but you won’t feel like bass is missing. Dialogue is always clear and surround speakers are used fairly often. Even though it’s not an action movie I think a DTS:X mix would have added the little extra. But for the 5.1 mix, it’s solid as you would expect.
Final Score comes to Blu-ray + Digital and DVD on November 13th from @lionsgateathome! Not gonna lie, i enjoy some cheesy action movies every now and then. Looked this up on Rotten Tomatoes and its at a 71% , so it was a pleasant surprise!
